November 30, 1999

A Westminster man is being held at the Carroll County Detention Center on attempted murder and assault charges stemming from a stabbing incident late Sunday, court records show.

Roy Dean Carver, 49, of the 100 block of Pennsylvania Ave. was arrested after police were called to a home next door to the defendant's and found Jack Wimsett seriously injured from an apparent knife wound in the stomach.

Wimsett was taken to Carroll County General Hospital and later transferred to the Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, where a hospital spokesman said he was in fair condition yesterday.

In charging documents, police said a pen knife was found at Carver's residence and he was arrested on charges of attempted second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and concealing a deadly weapon.

Bail was set at $50,000. According to police, Carver said he would leave for Montana if he was released.
