Zito lands Millions with $250,000 bid

November 24, 1999|By Tom Keyser

Millions, the 3-year-old colt who has been trained and owned by Marylanders, topped yesterday's Fasig-Tipton sale of horses of racing age at Belmont Park, drawing a $250,000 bid from New York trainer Nick Zito.

Trained by Leon Blusiewicz and owned by Blusiewicz and his longtime friend, Clayton Peters, Millions did not fulfill at 3 the potential he flashed at 2.

As a 2-year-old, the Kentucky-bred son of Dehere and Liturgism won the Laurel Futurity and finished second in the Remsen Stakes at Aqueduct.

This year, Millions was winless in six attempts.

His best finish was third place in the Federico Tesio Stakes at Pimlico.
