Andrea Garner scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds yesterday to lead No. 9 Penn State over Maryland, 91-60, at Cole Field House.

Penn State (2-0) broke open the game with a 21-4 run late in the first half that made it 48-21.

Freshman guard Renneika Razor, who had 14 points in her college debut, scored 12 for Maryland (1-1) and Tiffany Brown 11.

Loyola 62, UMBC 48: Jennifer Bongard and Shannon Cohen each had three-pointers in a 13-2 run starting the second half for the host Greyhounds (1-1). Serena Hampton paced the Retrievers (1-1) with 16 points.

St. Mary's 79, Washington College 53: Guard Felicia Harris scored 23 points to lead the Seahawks (3-0) to a nonconference win over the visiting Shorewomen (1-2), who got 21 points from Danilea Rados.

Salisbury State 99, Christopher Newport 93: Amy Campion scored a game-high 26 points as the host Sea Gulls (3-0) blew a 22-point halftime lead but held on for the win over the Captains (1-2) in a nonconference game.

Johns Hopkins 85, Goucher 52: The Blue Jays (1-0) shot 60 percent from the field in the second half to pull away from the host Gophers (2-1). Leslie Ritter had 17 points for Hopkins and Jessica Young had 14 for Goucher.

Mary Washington 61, Frostburg State 50: Erin Caulfield and Bornico Konnoy scored 16 points apiece to lead the visiting Eagles (2-1).

George Mason 82, Morgan State 60: Jen Surlas scored 20 points as the Patriots (1-1) cruised past the visiting Bears (1-2), who got 24 points and nine rebounds from Shakira Smith.

Georgetown 80, Mount St. Mary's 50: The Hoyas (1-2) thwarted the Mountaineers' bid to win their 500th game in 26 seasons.

Villa Julie 57, Mary Baldwin 43: Delena DeShields scored 17 points to lead the host Mustangs (2-1).
