November 18, 1999

Gov. Parris N. Glendening approved $250,000 in federal funds Tuesday to help build a half-mile trail and boardwalk connection from Old Annapolis Road to Centennial Park at Woodland Road.

Howard County will provide $275,000 in matching funds; the $525,000 project will include construction of a bridge that will cross wetlands containing an abundance of plant and animal life.

It is one of 19 recently awarded projects totaling $7.4 million across the state. More than $52 million has been awarded for 121 projects in Maryland through the federal Transportation Enhancement Program.
