Sport utility vehicle hits, kills bicyclist on road in Pasadena

A man riding a bicycle on Fort Smallwood Road near the Rock Hill Beach section of Pasadena was killed yesterday when he was struck from behind by a sport utility vehicle, county police said.

The victim was northbound in the center turn lane of Fort Smallwood Road near Farmview Road about 5: 35 p.m. when he was struck by a 1998 Toyota SUV traveling in an adjacent through lane, said police spokesman Officer Charles Ravenell. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident is being investigated by the county police traffic division.
