Tonight's game

N.Y. Jets (2-6) at New England (6-2)

Time: 9, chs. 2, 7.

Line: Patriots by 6.

Vs. spread: Jets 2-6; Patriots 3-4.

Last week: Jets beat Cardinals, 12-7. Patriots had a bye.

Series: Jets lead, 42-35-1.

Last meeting: Patriots won, 30-28, on Sept. 12 at New York.

Outlook: When these teams met in the season opener, Jets QB Vinny Testaverde suffered a season-ending injury, all but ending New York's playoff hopes. The Patriots needed Adam Vinatieri's 32-yard field goal with three seconds remaining to win. This time, the margin of victory shouldn't be so slim. New England is 6-2 and well-rested after a bye. The Jets have lost three of their past four games and have scored more than 13 points once in the past month.

Notable: Patriots have won 13 of their past 15 AFC East games in New England.

Injuries:

JETS: Out: TE Eric Green (knee). Probable: S Steve Atwater (hamstring).

PATRIOTS: Out: LB Ted Johnson (biceps). Questionable: LB Vernon Crawford (knee); LB Marty Moore (knee); RB Harold Shaw (quadriceps).
