Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Baltimore City

Eastern District

Arrests: Ten people were arrested last week on drug and deadly weapon charges during "Operation Early Out," an initiative named for one of six violent drug gangs that have terrorized a large area of East Baltimore for more than three months. At least 150 officers raided several dwellings in an area bordered by East Preston, East Monument and McDonogh streets and Luzerne Avenue and seized five handguns, $2,000, cocaine, bulletproof vests, handcuffs, ammunition and walkie-talkies. Those arrested were processed at Central Booking and Intake Center. More arrests are expected.

Theft/arrest: A man was arrested Saturday when he tried to leave Stop, Shop & Save supermarket in the 900 block of N. Caroline St. without paying for meat valued at more than $8.

Theft: A woman, 28, tried to steal household products valued at more than $30 Saturday from Stop, Shop & Save supermarket in the 1600 block of E. North Ave. She was arrested.

Southwestern District

Stolen vehicle/arrest: Officer Frank Jerrell of the "HotSpot Squad" was in an unmarked patrol vehicle about noon Saturday in the first block of S. Catherine St. and saw what appeared to be a drug deal between two men. As Jerrell approached, one man walked away from the other, who was seated in a 1987 Ford pickup truck that the officer knew had been stolen in Anne Arundel County. The man in the truck was arrested and charged with auto theft and driving on a suspended license.

Theft/arrest: A man, 35, was arrested Saturday when he tried to leave a Giant Food market in the 4600 block of Edmondson Ave. without paying for grocery items valued at $60.

Southern District

Stolen car: A white 1994 Ford pickup truck with tags 87G 038 was stolen Saturday in the 2700 block of Annapolis Road.

Theft: A mobile telephone valued at more than $200 was stolen Saturday from a delivery truck parked in the 200 block of Goldsmith Alley.

Northern District

Theft: Someone entered a closet of a house in the 800 block of E. 30th St. on Saturday and removed $1,000 hidden in a diaper bag. Police were seeking a young female.

Robbery: A man, 35, was walking Saturday night in the 2100 block of Guilford Ave. when three men stopped him and asked for cigarettes. One pulled a handgun and robbed the man of a gold watch and his wallet containing $160.

Theft: Two men stole a pair of boots Friday from Payless Shoes in the 1000 block of W. 41st St.

Baltimore County

White Marsh Precinct

Officer assaulted/arrests: Cpl. Joseph Yeater was investigating a disturbance outside Denny's restaurant in the 8000 block of Belair Road about 2 a.m. yesterday when a man struck him after Yeater ordered him to leave. Officers also arrested three other males who refused to leave the scene and charged them with disorderly conduct and failing to obey a lawful order. The man who struck Yeater was charged with assaulting a police officer and possession of a deadly weapon -- a baseball bat with which he was threatening people. The names of the men arrested were not available.

Theft/arrest: A girl, 16, was arrested Saturday and charged with stealing clothing valued at nearly $90 from the Sears and Lord & Taylor department stores at White Marsh Mall. The girl was released in the custody of her parents.

Stolen car: A 1994 Ford Probe with tags FVN 265 was stolen yesterday in the 4400 block of Silver Teal Road.
