A 55-year-old Edgewood man was in stable condition last night at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center after he was shot by an unknown gunman when he answered a knock at his door yesterday, state police said.

Leroy M. Love of the 600 block of Lake Ave. was shot in the stomach about 2: 35 a.m., police said. The gunman drove off in a dark green 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier with Maryland tags GSK 110, and police were searching for the vehicle.

Love was taken first to Fallston General Hospital, where his condition was stabilized before he was transferred to Bayview, police said.
