Center offers workshops on job hunts, career changes

The Carroll County Business & Employment Resource Center is offering a variety of workshops and programs to help individuals who may be seeking a job or changing careers.

Programs include:

Do You Need To Practice Interviewing? Participants should come prepared to be interviewed; then they will be evaluated by a staff member and offered a critique. The program is from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 29.

Money Management Workshop: Learn how to avoid money management pitfalls, live on less and plan. The program is from 9 a.m. to noon Nov. 30.

Computerize Your Resume: Have a resume ready to be typed, and get help with updating and formatting. The program is from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 30.

Registration for the workshops is required. The resource center is at 224 N. Center St., Westminster.

Wal-Mart taking donations to support war memorial

The Westminster Wal-Mart is collecting donations as part of the company's nationwide support of a World War II memorial.

The store raffled a television last week, and a donation box has been set up.

The initiative has a goal of $100 million.

Landscape company wins top national honors

Chapel Valley Landscape Company of Woodbine has been honored by the Associated Landscape Contractors of America at its 30th annual environmental improvement awards program.

The company earned grand awards for the Hock residence in Catonsville and a private residence in Washington, and merit awards for the Horowitz residence in Bethesda and Four Seasons Hotel in Washington.

The grand award is the ALCA's highest honor. The program recognizes landscape contracting professionals for quality landscaping efforts.

Chapel Valley provides residential and commercial landscape design, installation, maintenance and water management services throughout the mid-Atlantic.

Another office is in Dulles, Va.
