Drug raid: Police raided an apartment in the 1200 block of Beaumont Ave. about 2 p.m. yesterday and arrested a man accused of growing, processing and distributing marijuana on the premises for six months. In the second-floor, two-bedroom apartment, police seized 30 pounds of packaged marijuana worth nearly $50,000; 80 marijuana plants; packaging material; $8,000; scales, and .45-caliber ammunition. Sgt. William Davis, head of the district's plainclothes detail, said the raid occurred after a weeklong undercover operation during which officers purchased marijuana. The most recent buy was three hours before the raid, Davis said. In a rear bedroom, the walls, ceiling and floor were covered with aluminum foil to reflect heat and light from high-intensity lamps that maintained a constant 80-degree temperature in the room, helping the marijuana plants "to grow and mature," Davis said. Walter Lee Robertson 2nd, 24, also known by the nicknames "Muppet" and "Outlaw," was charged with distributing marijuana, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and manufacturing marijuana. He was processed at the Central Booking and Intake Center.
