Free smoke detectors are being offered by fire stations

November 10, 1999|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

The Carroll County Firemen's Association, in conjunction with the state fire marshal's office, is distributing free smoke detectors to county residents.

Homeowners, especially those unable to afford a smoke detector, may contact their nearest fire station. Smoke detectors will be installed by volunteer firefighters at no charge.

Each of the county's 14 fire companies has received 70 smoke detectors to give away.

Information: Leon Fleming, firemen's association liaison, 410- 848-1488, Ext. 202.
