Chamber to present issues at White Paper Breakfast

The Governmental Affairs Committee of the Howard County Chamber of Commerce will hold its White Paper Breakfast to present "Issues for Legislative Action," the chamber's position on issues related to economic development, the environment, health care, transportation and work force readiness. The breakfast will begin at 7: 30 a.m. Nov. 30 at The Sheraton Columbia Hotel, 10207 Wincopin Circle.

In a new format, a panel of elected officials -- County Executive James N. Robey, County Councilman C. Vernon Gray, Del. Shane Pendergrass and state Sen. Christopher J. McCabe -- will comment on the issues.

Amerix Corp. has doubled fund-raising since last year

Amerix Corporation, a Columbia-based service provider to the credit counseling industry, has more than doubled its fund-raising total of last year, contributing $110,000 to United Way of Central Maryland in the 1999 Community Campaign. The company increased staff participation by 5 percent, and doubled the number of donations at the $1,000 level.


Jeanne Kelly has been appointed branch officer at the Laurel Shopping Center Branch of Citizens National Bank. A 1991 graduate of the Maryland Bankers School, she has more than 20 years of experience in the field. Michael L. Barrett has joined the senior management staff of the bank's president and CEO, Peter W. Floeckher Jr., as vice president and director of marketing.
