The blueprint for a winning evening? Try the Baltimore Chapter of the American Institute of Architects and its 1999 Design Awards Program and reception.

Some 250 area architects, interior designers and their friends drew together at the School of Nursing at the University of Maryland, Baltimore, to celebrate this year's architectural apexes. Eighteen AIA Design Awards were given to Baltimore architects in a variety of categories.

Among those angling for some creative space at the buffet after the awards presentation were Frank Lucas, AIA Baltimore president; Peter Winebrenner, event chair; Will Hudgins, Karen Lewand and Scott Miller, event committee members; John Stahl, Magda Westerhout and Debbie Phillips, AIA Baltimore board members; George Holback and Diane Cho, principals with Cho, Wilks & Benn Architects; Patrick Sutton, principal with Patrick Sutton Associates; Steve Ziger, principal with Ziger/Snead Inc.; Wayne Good, owner of GOOD/Architecture; Ed Kohls, principal with Design Collective; and Ajibola Robinson, Sang Lee and Fisseha Tefera, Morgan State Univer-sity architecture students.
