Correction

October 28, 1999

Because of inaccurate information provided by state officials, an article in yesterday's editions of The Sun about Maryland's purchase of land along the Youghiogheny River misstated the amount of land acquired in the area designated by the state as a "wild and scenic" corridor. In fact, the state has acquired 3,800 of the corridor's 4,700 acres and 500 nearby acres outside the corridor.

The Sun regrets the errors.
