Phillies: Claimed P Manny Barrios on waivers from Reds.

Rangers: Announced resignation of conditioning coach Tim Lang. Named Mike Arndt conditioning coach.


WNBA: Granted Indiana, Miami, Portland and Seattle formal approval as expansion teams beginning with 2000 season.


Sun Belt Conference: Announced that 2000 women's basketball tournament was moved from Louisiana Tech to undisclosed site.
