HOWARD CRIME REPORT

The crime report is a sampling of crimes in Howard County compiled from police reports.

East Columbia

Majors Lane: 6000 block, Long Reach. A burglar broke into an apartment about 7: 30 a.m. Saturday and took a purse, laptop computer and camera. Residents were asleep in a bedroom with the door closed and discovered their property gone when they awoke.

West Columbia

Waning Moon Way: 6600 block, Owen Brown. A woman getting out of her car about 11: 30 p.m. Friday was robbed of her purse. Police said the thief fled. The purse snatcher was described as a white male, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds with a muscular build and dark brown hair. He was wearing a brown jacket and khaki pants.

Ten Mills Road: 5000 block, Wilde Lake. Burglars entered a home through an unlocked garage door about 5 p.m. Oct. 14 and stole a videocassette recorder, camera and a tin of coins worth $889.

Ellicott City/Elkridge

Baltimore National Pike: 8000 block, Ellicott City. About 4: 30 a.m. Oct. 14, three people forced their way into a room at Brown's Motel. One of them held three occupants at gunpoint while another tied them up and covered their eyes with duct tape. The robbers took a television and a videocassette recorder, clothing and a 1989 black Acura Legend with Maryland tags GRZ-409.

Ducketts Lane: 6500 block, Elkridge. Between Oct. 10 and Oct. 13, burglars stole power tools valued at about $250 from a home that was unoccupied and under renovation.
