Keys to a Redskins victory

October 17, 1999|By Jamison Hensley

1 Contain Arizona quarterback Jake Plummer. The Redskins have had enough problems trying to stop pure drop-back passers, so chasing down Plummer won't make their night easier.

2 Throw to fullback Larry Centers. With injuries to their tight ends, the Redskins will use three wide-outs more, leaving more space in the flat for the former Cardinals Pro Bowl player, who is pumped after being snubbed by Arizona in the off-season.

3 Capitalize on turnovers. Plummer has thrown 12 interceptions, and the Cardinals have coughed the ball up four times on fumbles, all of which should trigger the high-scoring Redskins against the improving Arizona defense.
