Glen Burnie to dedicate its new archway tomorrow

Glen Burnie is no St. Louis, but it has an arch -- the Logo Park Civic Sign Arch, to be dedicated at 2 p.m. tomorrow at Baltimore-Annapolis Boulevard and Ritchie Highway.

State Sen. James E. "Ed" DeGrange will be master of ceremonies for the program honoring the 30-foot-wide, 9-foot-high brick arch, and County Executive Janet S. Owens will speak.

A time capsule, containing items including a written history of Glen Burnie and the day's newspaper, will be placed in the arch's vault.

The $20,000 project was sponsored by the Glen Burnie Logo Park Civic Sign Commission, with support from 10 community organizations, each represented by signs on the arch. The commission is selling bricks on the walkway to the arch for $50.
