Night of laughs for St. Agnes

MARYLAND SCENE

October 17, 1999|By Sloane Brown

At the St. Agnes Foundation Gala, "Laughter Is the Best Medicine," Bob Somerby filled the prescription. The Baltimore-based comic fractured folks and easily reset their funny bones, without help from any of the orthopedists present at the Renaissance Harborplace Hotel.

Among the 440 folks in for the rib-tickling treatment: event honoree Ronald L. Kaufman; Bob Adams, president of St. Agnes Healthcare; Kyle Swisher, president of the St. Agnes Foundation; Ron Schack and Mike Stafford, foundation board members; Dr. Frank Viozzi, St. Agnes' chief medical officer; Mary Parga, past president of the St. Agnes Auxiliary; Sybil Woodard, case-management director at Bon Secours Hospital; and Joe Welkie, VP with Atlantic Builders Group Inc.

The $20,000 raised at the soiree goes toward St. Agnes Foundation's community programs and services.
