A hat trick by team captain Jen Biscoe propelled No. 2-ranked John Carroll over No. 5 Notre Dame Prep, 4-1, and re-positioned the Patriots on a path to the No. 1 spot yesterday at Notre Dame Prep.

The Patriots' offense paid dividends 22 minutes into the game when Biscoe headed a corner kick from Kourtney Porcella over goalie Lauren Stone for a 1-0 lead.

Megan Schwartz scored for the Pirates at the beginning of the second half.

Notre Dame Prep defender Marissa Giannerini, who assisted Schwartz's goal, tried to stop a surge by Biscoe, but tripped her in the penalty box. Biscoe's penalty goal gave her team a 2-1 lead and also smothered NDP's momentum. Seven minutes later, Biscoe combined with Porcella's corner kick to head the ball over Stone.
