Women Entrepreneurs of Baltimore

MARYLAND SCENE

October 10, 1999|By SLOANE BROWN

The Meyerhoff Symphony Hall is known for its tasteful entertainment, and the fund-raiser there for Women Entrepreneurs of Baltimore Inc. was no exception. For a Taste of WEB, the hall's lobby was filled with examples of good taste ... from 15 area restaurants and caterers.

Among the 300 party taste-testers: WEB CEO Amanda Zinn; board co-presidents Maggie Henry and Linda Miller; board members Carolyn Henderson and Jayne Miller; honorary event chair Kim Acton; Blanche C. Brown, Laure Julliard and Regina A. Smith, WEB program participants; Leonard R. Lee, WEB training services manager; Sayra Wells Meyerhoff, board chair of Harriet's List, a nonprofit group; and Karen Bond, executive director of the Baltimore Educational Scholarship Trust.

The meet-and-eat raised some $30,000 for WEB, which provides entrepreneurial training, technical assistance, resources and support to low-income Baltimoreans working to become self-sufficient.
