Suspected opium found in search of woman

A Westminster woman who was being served with two bench warrants Friday was searched and a plastic bottle containing suspected opium was found in her sock, police said.

Monica L. Summers, 31, of the 400 block of Mathis Court was charged with possession of narcotics and held at the Carroll County Detention Center in lieu of $10,000 bail.

Addressing the bench warrants, a District Court commissioner ordered Summers held without bail on a charge of violating probation in a previous theft case.

Bail was set at $15,000 on a charge of failure to appear in court.

Fire

Reese: Firefighters responded at 12: 47 p.m. Thursday to a truck fire in the 1400 block of Baltimore Blvd. Units were out 31 minutes.

Police

Westminster: An employee of Westminster United Methodist Church on East Main Street told police Thursday that someone broke two window panes at the building. Damage was estimated at $100.

Westminster: A resident of Cindy Lane told state police that someone stole her golden retriever from her property between 6: 30 p.m. Wednesday and 6 a.m. Thursday.

Finksburg: A resident of Hidden Creek Drive told state police that someone entered his unlocked vehicle and stole a cellular phone, tools and an electronic meter between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 8 a.m. Wednesday. The loss was estimated at $350.
