3 boys charged in break-in after skipping school

October 03, 1999|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

Three boys suspected of playing hooky from school Friday were arrested and charged as juveniles after they allegedly tried to break into a Westminster house, apparently unaware the owner was home, state police said.

Tfc. Bryan Pearre of the Westminster barracks responded to the homeowner's complaint and arrested the boys within minutes of the 911 call for assistance.

The boys, all 15 years old and Westminster residents, were released to their parents, Pearre said. He did not name them because of their age.

The boys denied they were trying to break into the woman's home, Pearre said.

It was not clear Friday if authorities at the boys' school intended to discipline them.
