Investigators rule Westminster shed fire deliberate

October 03, 1999|BY A SUN STAFF WRITER

A fire that destroyed a two-story wooden shed in Westminster late Thursday was deliberately set, fire officials said Friday.

According to state fire marshals, the homeowners, Katherine and Brian Meehan of the 2000 block of Herbert Ave., were awakened by neighbors at 11: 59 p.m. soon after the blaze was discovered.

Firefighters from Reese and Westminster brought the fire under control within 20 minutes, but were unable to save the shed or its contents. Damage was estimated at $3,000, fire marshals said.

Anyone with information about the incident should call the state fire marshal's office in Westminster at 410-875-5450.
