Ellicott City show house

MARYLAND SCENE

October 03, 1999|By Sloane Brown

Talk about your party pooper! An uninvited guest certainly put a damper on the preview party for Historic Ellicott City's 15th Annual Decorator Show House. The Storm formerly known as Hurricane Floyd rudely pushed back the party date, then stole the house's power for five days. But a half-hour before invited guests were due to arrive on the new party date, the lights came back on at the magnificently made-over Folly Farm, in Howard County.

Among the 250 at the celebration: Ellen Reynolds, Folly Farm owner; Janet Kusterer, president of Historic Ellicott City Inc.; Roland Bounds, Dodie Gaudry, Thomas Kusterer and Herbert Johl, board members; Rick Weinkam, event committee chair; Connie Siegel and Kathryn Seck, committee members; Ed Williams, director of Ellicott City's B&O Railroad Station Museum; and Karen Justice, executive director of the Howard County Tourism Council.
