October 02, 1999

Two Waverly men were arrested and charged yesterday in the shooting of Emmanuel "Nick" Gerondis, a 12-year-old Hampden boy wounded when he apparently couldn't produce enough money during an attempted robbery.

A stolen car witnessed at the scene of the Sept. 20 shooting led to the arrests, according to police.

Charged was Rick McConnell, 40, of the 3700 block of Greenspring Ave., who was arrested walking in the 2800 block of Westwood Ave. Police then questioned and arrested Stanley Harrison, 23, of the 3900 block of Grantley Ave.

Both men were charged with attempted murder.

Emmanuel remained in serious condition last night at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
