Fall Harvest Days

Enjoy old-fashioned farming with a festive air Saturday and Sunday at the Carroll County Farm Museum. Selected as one of the "Top 100 Events in North America for 1999" by the American Bus Association, the event will include tractor rides, a new puppet theater and a checkers tournament. Music will be provided by Freewheeling, Wherligig, Jessica Andrews (sponsored by WPOC, 93.1 FM) and many other performers. Ice cream-making, butter-churning, grain-threshing demonstrations, 19 food stands and a "Milk Mustache" contest are among the attractions.

Fall Harvest Days are Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Carroll County Farm Museum, 500 S. Center St. in Westminster. $4; $2 ages 7-18 and 60 and older; free for ages 6 and under with adult. Call 410-876-2667 or 800-654-4645.

Train show

Look for the Great Scale Train Show in Timonium this Saturday and Sunday as the Ellicott City Scale Model Railroad Association comes to the fairgrounds. Model train connoisseurs will be able to enlighten themselves through clinics and demonstrations, while the kids watch train cartoons and feature films. See the Mason-Dixon Large Scale Railroad Society's garden layout and other detailed displays. Dealers will sell scale model trains and related equipment at more than 700 tables. Overlea Caterers will provide refreshments.

The train show will be at the Maryland State Fairgrounds, York Road, Timonium, Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. $6; free for ages under 12; $12 family charge. Return Sunday for free. Call 410-730-1036.
