Friends of Jug Bay to hold opening and dedication of wetlands exhibit

Friends of Jug Bay will hold a formal opening and dedication Saturday of the interactive wetlands exhibit at the McCann Wetlands Study Center, Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary, 1361 Wrighton Road, Lothian.

A demonstration will take place at noon and the dedication at 2 p.m.

Keynote speaker will be Fran Flanigan, executive director of the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay. Friends of Jug Bay raised $50,000 for the project and will present the check to Anne Arundel County Executive Janet S. Owens.

Cantler's Inn to celebrate 25 years with crab feast

Cantler's Riverside Inn will celebrate 25 years in business Sunday with an all-you-can-eat crab feast.

The beneficiary is the Chesapeake Bay Foundation.

"We want to thank our great customers by providing a great event, while raising money [for] an organization whose goal is to protect Maryland's most treasured resources," said Dan Donnelly, general manager of the crab house, which is also holding a fund-raising anniversary rockfish tournament Friday and Saturday.

The crab feast, from 11: 30 a.m. to 4 p.m., will feature door prizes and entertainment by two bands. Tickets are $25.
