'40s Brooklyn Park reunion is scheduled Oct. 16

FOR THOSE of you who attended the "school on the hill," otherwise known as the old Brooklyn Park Elementary School, during the 1940s, the second reunion is scheduled from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 16 at Kaufmann's Restaurant, 329 Gambrills Road.

Organizer Nancy Petitt Ingram said that since last year's reunion was so much fun, the group decided to do it again. Tickets are $20 for dinner and cash bar. Anyone who attended the school in the '40s is welcome. Information: 410-863-1422.

Legion dance today

A dance is being held from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. today at American Legion Post 34, 5526 Belle Grove Road.

It will feature music by the Three Legionnaires. Food, beer, soda and set-ups will be available. Admission is $10.

The post's Beach Party will be held from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 25. The $8 admission will cover hot dogs, hamburgers, salad, watermelon, beer and soda.

Music will be provided by Scorpion DJs. Both events are open to the public.

Brooklyn Heights meeting

The Brooklyn Heights Improvement Association will hold its monthly community meeting at 7 p.m. Monday at the Brooklyn Park library, 1 E. 11th Ave.

The topic will be the association's application to have Brooklyn Heights designated a "Hotspot."

President Joe Collini encouraged all residents to attend. "We need many people to give us their input and concerns," he said.

Brooklyn alumni meeting

The Brooklyn Park High School Alumni Association will meet at 6: 30 p.m. Tuesday at the Brooklyn Park library.

Alumni and friends are invited to help the association plan an open house/homecoming for alumni in November 2000 to coincide with the opening of the new Brooklyn Park Middle School and the Chesapeake Center for the Creative Arts.

All-faiths revival

Evangelist Terry Shuttlesworth will lead Revival Sunday at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. Sept. 19 to 22 at Maryland's Church on the Rock, 900 Church St. All faiths are welcome.

The Women's Ministry will sponsor a flea market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sept. 25. Table spaces may be rented for $10 in advance.

Maryland's Church on the Rock is accepting registration for its Master's Bible School. Classes, taught by the Rev. Jim Carcellara, are held at 7 p.m. Wednesdays and 9 a.m. Sundays. The classes are free, but the textbook costs $5.

Cub Scout meeting

Cub Scout Pack 182 will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Resurrection Lutheran Church, 601 Hammonds Lane.

Boys in grades 1 to 5 are welcome. Parents must attend this meeting.
