Volunteers Needed

Area schools and literacy programs seek volunteers to help children and adults improve reading skills and to assist in related projects.

Among them are:

Mary E. Rodman Elementary School, 3510 W. Mulberry St., which needs reading tutors to assist children from prekindergarten through fifth grade during school hours. Information: Annie McIntosh, 410-396-0508.

Southeast Baltimore Early Head Start Center, 2811 Dillon St., which provides support and education services for low-income, at-risk families with children to from birth to age 3. Volunteers are needed to tutor young adults in literacy skills to improve their reading and help them read with their children. Hours are 10 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays.
