Long & Foster Real Estate Inc. reported that its August sales rose 17 percent over the same period last year.

Overall, the company's year-to-date sales volume is running 10 percent higher than 1998.

The top five Baltimore area offices in sales were: Columbia, Annapolis, Timonium, Ellicott City and Bel Air.
