Cubs: Chicago went back to its veteran infield for one game, with Mickey Morandini, Jeff Blauser and Gary Gaetti at second, short and third instead of rookies Chad Meyers, Jose Nieves and Cole Liniak.

Diamondbacks: Arizona lost for just the fifth time in its last 28 road games.

Brewers: Entering the game, Jeromy Burnitz had just two homers and seven RBIs in 19 games since coming off the disabled list with a broken bone in his hand. Milwaukee had three batters one hit away from the cycle; Burnitz and Marquis Grissom each needed a triple and Ron Belliard needed a home run.

Phillies: Paul Byrd hit his NL-leading 15th batter when he plunked Craig Biggio in the first.
