The blotter is a sampling of crimes in Howard County compiled from police reports.

East Columbia

Little Foxes Run: 6100 block, Long Reach. Someone entered a home between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sept. 1 by removing a screen and stole jewelry and money.

Sweetwind Place: 5700 block, Long Reach. A man riding a bicycle approached someone carrying a backpack at 11 p.m. Thursday and attempted to steal it. The victim held on to it until the man rode away.

Stevens Forest Road: 5600 block, Oakland Mills. A homeowner who heard noises at midnight Friday saw two women trying to pry a door off its track with a hammer. The women fled; nothing was taken.

West Columbia

Trotter Road: 6200 block, River Hill. Someone entered a residence by breaking a glass pane on the rear door at 11: 30 a.m. Thursday and stole a television, computers and jewelry.

Ellicott City/Elkridge

Washington Blvd: 6600 block, Elkridge. Someone pried open the front door of a mobile home between 6: 30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Sept. 1 and stole three televisions, a camera and a videocassette recorder.

Timber Trails Court: 2900 block, Ellicott City. Someone entered an unlocked garage at 6 p.m. Aug. 31 and stole a chain saw.

Old Columbia Pike: 4000 block, Ellicott City. A homeowner returned and found a window screen cut and the basement door partially open.

Bethany Lane: 2900 block, Ellicott City. Someone entered a home between 7 a.m. and 6: 30 p.m. Thursday and stole a television.

Jessup

Mary Lane: 8700 block. A man hitched a ride with a motorist at Guilford Park at 6: 30 p.m. Sept. 1. When the driver stopped the car, the man displayed a handgun, struck the driver in the stomach with the weapon and stole $21. The gunman fled on foot.

North Laurel

Country Meadows Lane: 9700 block. Someone entered a second-floor apartment at 7 p.m. Aug. 31 and stole a television, videocassette recorder and jewelry. There was no sign of forced entry.

Sylvan Still Road: 9500 block. A man entered an open car with a passenger inside at 10 p.m. Thursday and drove off. The thief pushed the passenger out of the car and left it three blocks away. Several men assaulted the car owner when he retrieved his vehicle.

Kenbrooke Court: 9300 block. Someone entered a house Thursday, stole saving bonds and moved furniture.
