Volunteers needed

September 05, 1999

Area schools and literacy programs seek volunteers to help children and adults improve reading skills and to assist in related projects.

Among them is:

Edgewater Elementary School in Anne Arundel County, which needs volunteers in its Reading Connection program to work one on one with children in first and second grades who need help with reading. Volunteers receive about eight hours of training, and are asked to work with at least one child for 30 to 40 minutes in twice-a-week sessions during school hours. Contact: Elaine Zimmerman, 410-222-1660.

If your school or organization is seeking volunteer reading tutors and would like to be included in this listing, call Sundial, 410- 783-1800, and enter code 6130.
