End the summer with `Endless Summer'

Critic's Choice: Film

September 05, 1999|By Ann Hornaday

Baltimore's most beloved new summer ritual, the Open-Air Italian Film Festival in Little Italy, will screen Bruce Brown's classic surfing documentary "Endless Summer" on Friday. The 1966 film chronicles two young surfers as they travel the world in search of the perfect wave.

This memento mori to a sunny season past is the perfect way to send off the summer, and a perfect new autumn ritual to introduce to a film-loving city.

"Endless Summer" will be shown at 9 p.m. at the corner of High and Stiles streets. Admission is free and open to the public. Bring your own lawn chair for maximum comfort.
