John James Gallagher, 55, litigation specialist

John James Gallagher, a Social Security Administration litigation specialist, died Aug. 28 of a brain seizure at Howard County General Hospital. He was 55 and lived in Columbia.

He joined Social Security in 1966 and moved in 1970 to its Woodlawn headquarters, where he was a litigation specialist. Born in Carbondale, Pa., he was a graduate of St. John's University in New York.

Funeral services were held Thursday in Archbald, Pa.

He is survived by a sister, Cathy Gallagher of Columbia; several nieces and nephews; and a close friend, Carl Christensen of Columbia.

Sister Mary Kathleen, 79, spent 61 years in order

Sister Mary Kathleen Reilly, a member of the School Sisters of Notre Dame who taught at St. Jerome's Parochial School in Pigtown, died Thursday of a heart attack at Villa Assumpta in the Woodbrook section of Baltimore County. She was 79.

During her 61 years in the order, Sister Kathleen was a teacher and administrator in Baltimore, Tampa, Fla., Philadelphia, and Wilmington, Del. She taught at St. Jerome's from 1941 to 1949 and at St. Mary's of the Assumption in Govans in 1964 and 1965. At the time of her death she was director of hospitality at Villa Assumpta.

She held posts, including director, at St. Vincent Orphanage, in the Tacony section of Philadelphia, from 1983 to 1993.

Born in New York, she entered the religious order in 1938 and professed her vows in 1941. She received her bachelor's degree from the College of Notre Dame of Maryland in 1956 and a master's degree from Villanova University in 1966.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered today at 10 a.m. at Villa Assumpta, 6401 N. Charles St.

She is survived by a brother, William J. Reilly of Newport Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Sister Anne Reilly of the Sisters of Mercy in Yonkers, N.Y., and Cecelia T. Reilly of Whiting, N.J.; and several nieces and nephews.

Eleanor Mary Dunn, 77, BGE employee

Eleanor Mary Dunn, a retired Baltimore Gas and Electric Co. employee, died Wednesday of a stroke at Stella Maris Hospice. She was 77 and lived in Govans.

Miss Dunn worked in the utility's billing department for 44 years until her retirement 15 years ago.

Born in Baltimore, she was a graduate of Immaculate Conception parochial school and Towson Catholic High School.

She enjoyed preparing and serving family dinners on holidays -- especially Thanksgiving and Christmas -- and did volunteer work at St. Mary's of the Assumption in Govans, where she was a longtime member.

A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 10 am. today at Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church on Ware Avenue in Towson.

She is survived by a sister, Raye Hann of Bemidji, Minn.; and several nieces and nephews.
