Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Baltimore City

Central District

Robbery: A man armed with a knife pressed the weapon to the chest of the owner of Sherman's Market in the 700 block of N. Howard St. about 10: 35 a.m. yesterday and forced him to give up the contents of the cash register. When the owner tried to grab the weapon, the man struck him in the face with his fist and fled. Police recovered the knife in the store.

Eastern District

Burglary: Cash and a case of cigarettes, all valued at nearly $3,300, were stolen overnight Monday from the Crown gas station in the 1900 block of Orleans St.

Robbery: Two men, one with a handgun, robbed a man, 34, of $30 in the 1600 block of N. Gay St. about 3 a.m. Monday. The victim suffered a minor head laceration and was treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Southwestern District

Theft/arrest: A man, 25, was arrested Tuesday when he tried to leave the Giant food market in the 4600 block of Edmondson Ave. without paying for baby formula valued at $6. At the same store Tuesday, police arrested a man, 31, who tried to steal a pregnancy test kit valued at $11.

Northern District

Burglary: A known male suspect entered a house Tuesday in the 2000 block of N. Charles St. and stole a television valued at $200.

Burglary: A key, $3 in coins and 10 compact discs, all valued at more than $100, were stolen Monday from a house in the 2700 block of St. Paul St.

Theft/arrest: A woman, 38, tried to leave the Food King store in the 5300 block of York Road without paying for two steaks and seafood salad, all valued at more than $21, and was arrested Tuesday.

Baltimore County

White Marsh Precinct

Burglary: A 3.5-horsepower lawn mower with a for-sale sign on it was stolen Tuesday in the 5000 block of Bucks School House Road. The thief cut the chain that secured the mower to a sign post in front of the owner's house.

Burglary: A computer, a videocassette recorder, a television, a compact disc player, a telephone and several compact discs were stolen Tuesday from a house in the 5900 block of Schering Road.

Wilkens Precinct

Robbery: Four teen-age boys were in the 5500 block of Carville Ave. about 10: 25 p.m. Tuesday when three men, one of whom implied he was armed with a handgun, demanded their money and valuables. Police said three teens fled and the fourth was robbed of a pager valued at nearly $200.

Burglary: A cellular phone and a stereo receiver, all valued at $700, were stolen Tuesday from a house in the first block of Bishops Lane.

Burglary: More than $100 was stolen Tuesday from Hair Cuttery in the first block of Melrose Ave. in Catonsville.
