After-school program contingent on interest

MOUNT AIRY MIDDLE School might offer an after-school program sponsored by Carroll County YMCA beginning Monday and continuing through June 9.

The program would be licensed for 15 pupils and available 180 days, except for professional days or snow days.

Mount Airy Elementary School offers this program for elementary and middle school pupils. The future of the program at Mount Airy Middle is contingent on interest.

Parents interested in an after-school program at Mount Airy Middle should call Terri Miller at the YMCA at 410-848-3660.

Senior Bible study

Mount Airy Senior Center, 703 Ridge Ave., will offer a Seniors Bible Study at 1 p.m. every Tuesday, beginning Sept. 7. The class will be led by Charles Scott.

Rainbows support group

Registration has begun for Rainbows, a support group for children who live in step-families, single-parent homes or changing families.

The group offers an opportunity for children to share their feelings and thoughts with children their age.

Sessions will begin Sept. 20 and registration is encouraged. Meetings are held at Calvary United Methodist Church, 403 S. Main St., Mount Airy.

Square dance classes

Square dancing classes will be held from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesdays at South Carroll High School on Old West Liberty Road in Winfield.

The class offers fun and fitness set to music. The first night is free and singles, couples, families and young adults are welcome.

Beanie Baby Bingo

Taylorsville-Winfield Lions Club will hold Beanie Baby Bingo on Sept. 10 at Winfield Fire Hall, 1320 W. Old Liberty Road.

Doors open at 5: 30 p.m., games start at 7 p.m. and food will be available. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.

Kids on the Block

Port Discovery will present a Kids on the Block puppet show at Mount Airy Public Library at 4: 30 p.m. Sept. 15. The program, called "Dream a Little Dream," is for children ages 6 and older.

Kids can become part of an inspiring puppet show by helping characters Lizzee Jones and Nam Nguyen realize their dreams. Registration for this program is required and begins Wednesday.
