Royals update

Kansas City has the worst home record in the American League at 23-36. The Royals have lost three straight, nine of 12 and 13 of 17. They were swept at Camden Yards in June and are 2-4 against the Orioles this season. This is the first series in Kansas City. The Royals have shaken up their bullpen, the worst in baseball. Former Oriole Terry Mathews is out. Former Oriole Chris Fussell is in. Closer Jeff Montgomery was one save shy of 300. Rookie second baseman Carlos Febles dislocated his left pinkie Friday and will have it examined by a hand specialist today. B. J. Surhoff went 5-for-5 with a homer in an April 27 game. Erickson is 1-1 against the Royals this year; he allowed six runs in 5 2/3 innings of a 15-5 loss on April 29, then limited the Royals to one run in eight innings in a 7-1 win on June 14. Linton returns to the city where he pitched in 1996.
