Camp update

August 15, 1999|By Mike Preston

Returnee: Ravens Pro Bowl left offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden worked with the first unit yesterday after missing the last three days, including Thursday's preseason opener, with a hip flexor.

No mas to Maas? With No. 3 quarterback Wally Richardson playing so well, Ravens coach Brian Billick has virtually said "no mas" to Oregon rookie quarterback Jason Maas about extensive playing time this preseason. Is he a candidate for the developmental squad?

Injuries: Fullback Chuck Evans (sprained knee), reserve fullback Tony Vinson (calf), reserve safety Stevon Moore (ankle) and starting left guard James Atkins (hamstring) did not practice yesterday.

Rare gem: Starting running back Priest Holmes, a born-again Christian, actually thanks fans for allowing him to sign his autograph.

Contest: Kickers Matt Stover and Scott Bentley are expected to alternate after every two field-goal attempts. Stover was one of two against the Eagles, and it's Bentley's turn Saturday night against the Atlanta Falcons.
