August 08, 1999

The Anne Arundel County Department of Health temporarily closed two food service establishments after inspections made between July 16 and July 31.

The Herald Harbor Inn and Mart at 400 Herald Harbor Road in Crownsville was closed for two days last month because of sewage disposal problems. The Burger King at 3111 Solomons Island Road in Edgewater was closed briefly on July 28 because of an unsatisfactory water supply.

Health workers inspected 110 restaurants and other food service establishments during the period and found 13 with critical food-safety violations that were immediately corrected. They found multiple violations at three places.

Hunan Restaurant at 1957 West Street in Annapolis was cited for not properly cooling food, not holding food at the proper temperature and food workers not practicing effective hand washing.

Red River BBQ at 181 Jennifer Road in Annapolis was cited for not properly cooling food and not holding it at the proper temperature.

Lewnes Steakhouse at 401 4th Street in Annapolis was cited for not adequately cooking and reheating food and not holding it at the proper temperature.
