Tigers update

The Orioles finally confront a team in worse shape than themselves. The Tigers, last in the AL Central, come in with an eight-game losing streak. One bright spot has been atop the order, where former Oriole Luis Polonia has resurrected his career, coming in hitting .362. Another profitable addition was third baseman Dean Palmer, who is hitting .275 with 26 homers and 70 RBIs. Weaver got off to an impressive start and was a hot topic in baseball circles, but he's cooled as the season grinds forward. When the Orioles took two of three in Detroit in early May, Charles Johnson went 7-for-11 with four homers. Mussina won the opener despite being off his game. He allowed nine hits and walked four in six innings, but the Tigers managed only three runs. Erickson was superb in the third game, tossing a five-hit shutout.
