Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Baltimore City and Baltimore County.

Baltimore City

Central District

Theft from vehicle: A compact disc player, 30 compact discs, clothing and a backpack, all valued at more than $1,300, were stolen Sunday from a 1997 Chevrolet parked in the 200 block of E. Redwood St.

Theft: A radar detector and cellular phone, all valued at nearly $500, were stolen Sunday from a 1993 Ford Explorer parked in the 100 block of W. Centre St.

Theft: A cellular phone, radio, 20 compact discs and a compact disc case, all valued at $700, were stolen Saturday from a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Concord St.

Southeastern District

Robbery/arrest: A man armed with a box cutter robbed another man, 33, of $20 about 2: 45 a.m. Sunday in the 400 block of N. Port St. Minutes later, police spotted a man climbing onto the roof of a nearby house and arrested him. Charles Gittings, 22, of the 2000 block of Orleans St. was charged with armed robbery and first-degree assault, and processed at the Central Booking and Intake Center.

Southern District

Robbery/arrest: A man struck a woman, 36, in the face and robbed her of $20 about 1 p.m. Sunday in the 400 block of S. Calhoun St. Edward Davis, 31, whose address was not available, was charged with robbery.

Theft from vehicle: Sunglasses and eyeglasses, clothing and a compact disc player, all valued at more than $500, were stolen Sunday from a 1990 Oldsmobile parked in the 800 block of Covington St.

Burglary: A five-string guitar and a carrying bag, all valued at $1,600, were stolen Sunday from a house in the 900 block of Baltic Ave.

Theft: A stereo system valued at $600 was stolen Sunday from a 1988 Chevrolet Beretta parked in the 800 block of McHenry St.

Southwestern District

Theft: Someone entered a city Department of Recreation and Parks building in the 2400 block of Tolley St. on Sunday and stole $84, the property of the Morrell Park Little League.

Eastern District

Shooting: A boy, 14, was sitting on the front porch of a vacant house in the 800 block of N. Rose St. about 4: 20 a.m. Sunday when a man shot him in the leg. The gunman fled, and the victim was treated at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Robbery: A man who implied he was armed with a handgun robbed Super Kids, a clothing store in the 300 block of N. Colvin St., of more than $500 about 2: 40 p.m. Saturday.

Baltimore County

Essex Precinct

Burglary: A computer and microwave oven were stolen from a house in the first block of Selfridge Road overnight Saturday.

Towson Precinct

Burglary: A Ruger T-95D chrome and black 9 mm semiautomatic handgun was stolen from an apartment in the 6600 block of Collinsdale Road overnight Saturday.

For the record

Victim identified: Brandon Ernesto McFail, 18, of Northwest Baltimore was identified by police yesterday as the man who was stabbed to death early Saturday in the 3500 block of Gwynns Falls Parkway. The body of McFail, of the 2400 block of Monticello Road was found by police about 6: 10 a.m. He had been stabbed in the chest several times and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police knew of no suspect and had not determined a motive in the slaying.
