Wallace appointed director of UM information center

University of Maryland, College Park appointed Patricia M. Wallace as director, Center for Knowledge and Information Management, Robert H. Smith School of Business. The newly created unit will develop a research program for reforming business practices through use of information technology.

The Silver Spring resident received her doctorate from the University of Texas-Austin and formerly was a vice president of the University of Maryland University College. She has been with the University System of Maryland for 18 years.

Streb is sales executive for Direct Marketing

Direct Marketing Associates, in Baltimore Highlands, appointed John M. Streb as sales executive for the advance-mailing solutions subsidiary of Harte Hanks Inc.

Formerly with Art Litho, the graduate of Johns Hopkins University is responsible for increasing Direct Marketing's presence in the printing industry, with emphasis on commingling and drop service technologies.

BIC names Michael Smith director of admissions

Baltimore International College named Michael D. Smith director of its admissions department. He is responsible for the hiring, training, management and evaluation of the culinary and hospitality school's admission staff.

A graduate of Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania, Smith is a member of the National Honor Society and the American Marketing Association.


Hatcher is design director for Gilden Advertising

Gilden Advertising, based in Roland Park, named Brian P. Hatcher, a Baltimore resident, as its design director.

Formerly art director for Siquis Ltd., the Pennsylvania State University graduate has won several industry awards.
