Rangers update

Two of baseball's hottest teams hook up in this series. The Rangers have won eight in a row, and 10 of 11 since the All-Star break, including a 4-3 victory over Tampa Bay on Sunday that included homers by former Orioles Rafael Palmeiro and Todd Zeile. They're off to their best start in franchise history, in part because they have one of the best road records in the majors at 31-23 and are 28-17 in games decided by two runs or fewer. Rookie reliever Jeff Zimmerman has a club-record 24 straight scoreless appearances. Catcher Ivan Rodriguez has thrown out 27 of 43 runners attempting to steal. Rusty Greer is 13-for-26 (.500) with nine walks lifetime against Guzman. The Rangers have won four of seven games between these clubs, though the Orioles took two of three at Camden Yards in late May. Palmeiro is 12-for-25 with three homers and eight RBIs this season against his former team. Morgan, another ex-Oriole, lasted only two-thirds of an inning and allowed eight runs in his May 23 start in Baltimore. He also faced them May 13 in Texas, getting the win despite permitting five runs and nine hits in five innings. He left Friday's game against Tampa Bay with a bruised right forearm after being hit by a line drive but is expected to make his next start. Sele has faced the Orioles twice this season. He allowed nine runs and 11 hits in 2 1/3 innings in a 16-5 loss, then didn't get a decision after permitting three runs in six innings in an 8-7 win. Brady Anderson is 16-for-37 (.432) with eight walks lifetime against Sele, and 10-for-16 (.625) against Burkett. Three of Albert Belle's 24 homers this season have come against the Rangers.
