Alzheimer's group leader completes training

Brenda Callahan of Morningside House, an assisted-living community, has completed the training course for support group leaders sponsored by the Greater Washington Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.

Callahan leads an Alzheimer's group that meets at 7: 30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month.

A free blood pressure screening also is offered by the nursing staff of Morningside House from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the third Friday of each month. Morningside House is at 7700 Cherry Lane, Laurel.

Naval Medical Clinic earns highest accreditation

Naval Medical Clinic Annapolis has received accreditation with commendation from the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

The accreditation is valid for three years and is the highest level awarded by the commission, the nation's oldest and largest accrediting body.

Accreditation recognizes an organization's performance in complying with national standards. The standards are designed to help organizations achieve the highest level of performance, reduce patient risk and create an environment for improvement.

Web site designer to speak at Network meeting

The Annapolis Women's Network will hold a meeting featuring Amy Vansant Hines, designer of award-winning Web sites and owner of Vansant Creations of Annapolis, as its guest speaker.

The meeting will be at 5: 30 p.m. Wednesday at Toadnet, an Internet provider and Web site host in Severna Park. Cost is $5. Reservations are required by tomorrow.

Chamber's power breakfast to include presentations

Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce will hold a power breakfast from 7: 30 a.m. to 9: 30 a.m. Wednesdayat Herrington on the Bay Restaurant, 7149 Lake Shore Drive in Friendship.

The breakfast will include presentations by three chamber members as well as casual discussions.

Names in the news

Bonnie Lindsay, branch manager of Citizens National Bank in Odenton, has been appointed to the West Anne Arundel County Chamber of Commerce board of directors. Lindsay was also named membership development chairwoman for the chamber.

Earl Wells has transferred to the Severna Park office of Coldwell Banker Stevens Realtors as a sales associate.
