Below are insider transactions of 1,000 shares or more for publicly held companies based in Maryland or having substantial operations here. Insiders are officers, directors or owners of 10 percent or more of a corporation's stock.

Columbia Bancorp.

Charles C. Holman, director, exercised an option for 13,500 shares of common at between $4.55 and $4.83 each from June 3 to June 21 and sold 4,700 shares for between $13.38 and $13.75 each from June 3 to June 21. He now directly and indirectly holds 18,150 common.

Columbia Energy Group

William R. Wilson, no longer required to file as an insider, exercised an option for 6,490 shares of common at an unreported price June 22. To cover expenses of the transaction, Wilson turned in 6,490 of them for $51.50 each June 22 and now directly holds 15,000 common.

Florida Rock Industries

John Daniel Baker, president, indirectly exercised an option for 45,000 shares of common at $12.56 each June 8. To cover expenses of the transaction, Baker turned in 23,223 of them for $40 each June 8 and now indirectly holds 2,354,750 common.

D. Beinhorn, divisional officer, exercised an option for 11,500 shares of common at $9.88 each June 16 and sold them for between $29 and $29.50 each June 16, and no longer holds shares in the company.

Ira A. Hunt, director, exercised an option for 20,000 shares of common at between $3.75 and $8.50 each from June 3 to June 15 and sold 20,400 shares for between $28.44 and $31.25 each from June 3 to June 15. He now directly holds 11,600 common.

Michael M. Kaplan, vice president, exercised an option for 8,000 shares of common at $9.38 each from June 1 to June 17 and sold them for between $24.63 and $29.69 each from June 1 to June 17. He no longer holds shares in the company.

Jill Lynne Leukhardt, vice president, sold 10,000 shares of common at $29.32 each June 29 and now directly holds 33,286 common.

Bruce R. Thaw, director, exercised an option for 15,000 shares of common at between $6.13 and $8.50 each June 15 and sold them for $30.66 each June 15. He now directly holds 220,000 shares of common.
