Wal-Mart donates computer table for child

Wal-Mart of Westminster recently donated a computer table to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of the Mid-Atlantic Inc.

The donation went to a child from the Baltimore area.

Make-A-Wish is a nonprofit organization that fulfills the wishes of children with life-threatening illnesses.

Program to address balancing home, work

The Carroll County Chamber of Commerce and Carroll County Business and Professional Women's Network are sponsoring a Ziglar Education System program Aug. 12 at Carroll Community College.

"Balancing Between Home and Work" will begin at 11: 30 a.m. with networking, lunch at noon and a program. Cost is $15.

Zig Ziglar trainer Suzanne Kondner will present the program.

Reservations are required by Aug. 9. Checks should be made to the Chamber of Commerce and sent to P.O. Box 871, Westminster 21158.

F&M Bancorp reports rise in first-half earnings

F&M Bancorp of Frederick has reported earnings of $7.970 million for the first half of 1999, or 86 cents per share.

Earnings were up from $7.578 million over the same period in 1998.

The bank had total assets of $1.462 billion and deposits of $1.160 billion as of June 30.

Addressing year 2000 computer issues, F&M reported that its Year 2000 Assurance Plan is being completed on schedule in accordance with bank regulators.

F&M has branches in Carroll and other Western Maryland and central Pennsylvania counties.

Dill opens Maranatha Realty in Westminster

Stanley Dill, a real estate agent for 15 years, has opened his own real estate agency in Westminster.

Maranatha Realty will offer residential, commercial and investment property, farm and land sales, property and association management, land development and new home sales assistance.

Dill recently stepped down as manager of a branch office for a large realty company. He is a certified residential broker and a graduate of Realtors Institute.

Dill also is past president of the Carroll County Association of Realtors and past president of MARIT Corp., a multiple listing service. He was Carroll County's 1996 Realtor of the Year.
