Police Blotter is a sampling of crimes in Howard County.

Ellicott City-Elkridge

Ellicott City: An intruder entered a house in the 2500 block of McKenzie Road through a basement window Monday and stole jewelry and a videocassette recorder.

Ellicott City: Two robbers entered a restaurant in the 9200 block of U.S. 40 on Sunday, brandished a shotgun and demanded the clerk hand them money from a cash register. After receiving an undetermined amount, the men fled, possibly in an older-model pickup truck.

East Columbia

Long Reach: An intruder smashed a rear sliding-glass door and entered a home in the 9400 block of Merryrest Court on Thursday, ransacked the residence and stole a metal box containing savings bonds, coins and papers.

West Columbia

Town Center: Three men approached a man standing at the 10200 block of Wincopin Circle on Sunday. One punched the man, another held him down and the third tried to steal his wallet. They fled in a vehicle.

Western Howard

Glenelg: An intruder broke into a school swimming pool in the 12700 block of Folly Quarter Road on Thursday and stole tools, towels, tennis shoes, a duffel bag, a clock and two rescue tubes.
