Community activists demonstrate at Pikesville home of city landlord

July 14, 1999

Members of the community renewal group ACORN continued a campaign against Baltimore landlords last night with a demonstration outside the Pikesville home of Stanley Rochkind.

The group picketed Rochkind's home on Smoke Tree Road to draw attention to his control of what they say are more than 1,000 city properties -- 173 of them vacant -- and more than 200 housing violations at the properties.

The action is the second by ACORN on the doorsteps of a city landlord.

Two weeks ago, the group traveled to the Owings Mills home of Allen Becker, who has since agreed to meet with the group to discuss his properties.
